Designer Drums - Drumming by Design
The Designer Drums are more than a drum series – it is a concept to meet the highest demands of
today's professional musicians. Drummers want instruments with excellent sound quality, high
reliability and flawless design. At the same time every drum set has to meet specific requirements
for different kinds of musical styles. The Sonor Designer Drums meets all these demands and
more. Since 1875 Sonor has been famous for making state-of-the-art instruments by combining
solid craftsmanship with modern technology. As with series such as Delite, S Class PRO and
Force, the Designer Drums are a fine example of Sonor's commitment to quality and detail. At the
basis of this commitment is an international design team that works out the guidelines for every step
of the production process for both drums and hardware.
Choose your wood material and depth of the shell
Designer Drums are made of selected Maple and Birch wood and X-RAY Acryl. Four shell
constructions are available for the styling of the Drums.:
ML – Maple Light
VMS – Vintage Maple
B - Birch
X-RAY Acryl
Maple wood and Birch wood are the mainly used wood types in Drum production. Sonor
manufactures the shells of all series in the own CLTF (Cross Laminated Tension Free) Shell
Compression System. Only well seasoned wood of high quality is used.
CLTF "Cross Laminated Tension Free" Shell Compression System
Sonor's unique CLTF (Cross Laminated Tension Free) Shell Compression System ensures a
tension-free construction of each shell. Even if cut in half, a Sonor shell will keep its shape.
Tension-free construction is very important for the sound. The four shells versions Maple Light,
VMS and Birch are available in a wide variety of sizes. In addition, four different shell depths can be
chosen from, which enhances individual selection. All bearing edges a beveled 45° for perfect
head-to-shell-contact and maximum projections.
