Direct-injection
boxes are, in many ways, the unsung heroes of
audio. Their correct use promotes purer audio
connections, truer interpretations of the real
sound of the source signal, and reduces the
risk of feedback in live situations. However,
these benefits can only be enjoyed if the
device is of appropriate quality many are
not!
The Klark Teknik
LBB100 has established itself as a firm favorite
with audio professionals all over the world,
due to its impeccable audio performance and
near indestructible build quality. It will
accept incoming signals of up to +42dBu, and
provides switched attenuation from 0dB to 45dB
in 15dB steps, plus earth link facilities.
Input connectors are two jacks (input and
link) and a female XLR connector. The latter
usefully allows the use of standard microphone
cables between the balanced XLR outputs
increasingly found on backline devices and the
DI.
The DN1414 rack mount
DI box brings all the advantages of LBB100
into a convenient rack mount format, and
places no less than fourteen separate DI
modules at the disposal of the user. Ten of
these have effectively the same features as
LBB100, plus modules 11-14 are arranged so
that they can be easily used as mono or stereo
pairs. DN1414 also features a duplicate set of
outputs on the rear panel, making it ideal for
large keyboard or sequencer setups, as well as
the facility to fit a multipin connector to
the device if required.
